Information

I want to tell you how I started the traditional ways that the native people know. The important thing is you’ve got to listen, don’t ask questions, watch what the person is doing. That way, my father used to say, you learn faster that way. When it’s time to do these things on your own, it comes easier to you to listen more than ask questions. When I was young, I was always helpful with the people I know, to the elders with their daily tasks like carrying water for them - we didn’t have running water for the community. We used to carry water from the river and I used to go around and ask who wanted some water. These were my chores and I was 13 or 14 years old that time, to be helpful the people living in the community of Moose Factory. When you want to learn something you watch, if you see it how it’s done, you remember it more than asking questions.
