Information

Things I needed to survive in the bush, like how to make snowshoes and weave them with sinew and how to set
nets. They didn’t show you how to do it but they did it verbally. How to read animal tracks, how to guide yourself
when you travel in the bush using trees or other objects. How to hunt moose. You get to know animal behaviours
and once you have that skill, the animal you hunt won’t run away from you. It is a skill technique. These are all the
skills you need to survive in the bush.
I heard my father talking about that long time ago. The old people talked about this and wondered what’s going
to happen to them after our territory has been clear-cut and what about the animals’ habitat. Everything will be
destroyed and they ask the government if their well-being will be secured as promised previously.
