Information

During the summer break, I was occasionally asked to help in the school kitchen for dishwashing. I would be so afraid of the horses along the way but luckily someone would meet me. We would leave at 6am. Our family in particular was often requested to work in the school kitchen. We weren’t always paid but eventually we did. One dollar a day, seven dollars a week. We would eat beef as well. In the summer, the grass was grown and kept in the barn for animal feed.
